Quebec Premier denounces Hamas attack on Israel

By The Canadian Press

Quebec Premier François Legault is denouncing the Hamas attack on Israel.

At a press conference in Montreal Tuesday, Legault decried the death of 33-year-old Quebecer Alexandre Look, who was participating in a music festival in Israel.

“There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can justify Hamas terrorists attacking civilians. These are horrible actions,” said the Quebec premier.

Legault added that Quebec’s heart goes out to the Jewish population “in Montreal, in Israel and all over the world.”

Regarding a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Montreal, Legault said it was “shameful” and “unacceptable.”

A few hundred demonstrators gathered at Dorchester Square in Montreal Saturday afternoon to show their support for Palestinian territories.

The event was strongly criticized, notably by federal Minister of Immigration Marc Miller.

“I am really very disappointed to see these people who allow themselves to take actions like that in such tragic, sad moments,” said Legault.
