Quebec provincial police investigation to find missing man continues in Cacouna

Residents of a building in Cacouna in Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region where a man barricaded himself and another man is still missing have reportedly been allowed back home.

According to Sûreté du Québec (SQ), on Oct.11, Steve Chassé, 40, barricaded himself in the Place Saint-Georges building, which led to a several hour long police intervention.

He appeared in court last Friday and faces three charges of inciting hatred, recklessly discharging a firearm and carrying a firearm for a dangerous purpose.

The SQ says it is likely he will face other charges.

Pierre Bélisle, 74, is still missing in connection with this case and a perimeter is still set up around the building. The SQ says the theory of homicide is being considered.

On Monday, investigators were searching a landfill site in the community.
