A father who allegedly stabbed his own daughter to death in Ormstown, in the Montérégie, was charged with second-degree murder Thursday.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were called to a home on Cairns Street at around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning for an “altercation between two people.”

The 34-year-old woman was found lifeless. She was identified in various media reports as Amanda Caza, the mother of an eight-year-old child.

Alain Caza, 60, was reportedly arrested at the scene and taken to hospital to treat what was described as a minor injury.

SQ would not confirm the relationship between the victim and suspect, but said they knew each other.

SQ officers and forensic identification technicians were on the scene to try to establish the circumstances surrounding the crime, and gather evidence.

This would be the 12th woman killed in Quebec since the beginning of the year.
