Halloween party benefitting the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation

A spook-tacular celebration is set to get Montrealers into the Halloween spirit.

So, witch way to the party?

The ninth annual “Night of the Giving Dead” fundraiser will take place at Plaza Le Rizz in the city’s East End on Oct. 28 — and it’s for a boo-tiful cause, raising funds for the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Fun costumes, tricks, treats, while giving back,” said George Theodoropoulos, founder and president of the Kids for Life Foundation. “Montrealers love the party because it gives adults in our community an opportunity to enjoy the spirit of Halloween.”

In 2012, Theodoropoulos started hosting Halloween parties at his home. These fundraisers were a way to give back to the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where his son received care as a newborn.

As these eerie-sistible celebrations grew, so did the giving — Theodoropoulos founded the Kids for Life Foundation in 2015, raising more than $500,000 for the hospital since then. Along with a team of passionate volunteers, Theodoropoulos put together events throughout the year; their Halloween party continues to be their flagship fundraiser.

“The room is filled with spooky Halloween décor that thrills every hallo-season enthusiast,” said Theodoropoulos. “You enter what feels like a haunted house except for it’s filled with dancing, laughter, smiles and a community coming together for a fun and playful evening of dress up.”

Before the foundation’s start, the parties were exclusively for family and friends. They’ve now become a yearly hall party for anyone in the city to have a fa-boo-lous time.

This year, net proceeds from the event will go towards the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation’s $250,000 commitment to the Kat Demes Pavilion scheduled to open this fall. The pavilion will house families whose children are undergoing long-term treatment at the hospital.

“With a delicious buffet, bottomless drinks, music, dancing and amazing raffle prizes,” explained Theodoropoulos. “It’s an unforgettable night to make memories.”
