The Montreal police (SPVM) metro section arrested an individual suspected of harassing and assaulting a public transit employee.

The 56-year-old man turned himself in on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on July 3 at the Joliette metro station.

Around 1:20 a.m., the suspect showed up at the metro station and allegedly attacked an Société de transport de Montréal (STM) employee by insulting him, throwing an object in his direction, and chasing him to his personal vehicle. The victim, in order to flee his assailant, took refuge in his car, which was damaged by the suspect for an amount estimated at more than $5,000.

The SPVM had released photos of the suspect as well as details of the event on October 19, asking for the public’s help in the case.

The suspect was released with conditions after being questioned by police.

He is scheduled to appear at the Montreal courthouse to face various charges.
