Montreal celebrates Halloween

“I’m doing that for them,” says Lili-Anne Tremblay, who's been decorating her home for trick-or-treaters for 30 years. From Tremblay's spook-tacular décor, to candies and costumes - Halloween was celebrated in Montreal. Pamela Pagano reports.

From trick-or-treating, costumes, and a spooktacular home! Montreal is celebrating Halloween.

“I just really like the fact that you get free candy,” said one trick-or-treater. “And people are willing to take the time to put up decorations.”

The fun in the city – due to many Montrealers who handed out treats and transformed their homes into haunted houses, like Lili-Anne Tremblay’s in Saint-Leonard.

“I don’t have children,” she explained. “So all those children who have come to my house tonight, it’s like they are mine.”

“So that’s why year after year I’m doing that for them,” added the Halloween enthusiast.

Celebrating 30 years of decorating, Tremblay’s family and friends worked together to help her put together this magical setup – which hundreds visited.

Over 3,000 candy bags were made to hand out. But trick-or-treaters don’t just come for the sweets. The décor and costumes, inspired by Disney, are a must-see.

The Halloween energy crept through Montreal streets, felt by all ages – CityNews even had a boo-tiful time handing out candies.

“Why do you love Halloween?” asked CityNews’ Halloween Barbie, Pamela Pagano.

“Because we have very nice costumes,” said a trick-or-treater. “And we have a lot of candy!”
