Alouettes top Tiger-Cats to advance to CFL Eastern Final

By Sportsnet Staff

Quarterback Cody Fajardo threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns as the host Montreal Alouettes eliminated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 27-12 in the CFL Eastern Division semifinal on Saturday.

It was an ugly end to the playoff contest, as the teams had to be separated with 43 seconds remaining when a melee broke out on the field and benches cleared.

The Alouettes will now pay a visit to the Toronto Argonauts next Saturday in the Eastern Division Final, with the winner moving on to the Grey Cup, Nov. 19, in Hamilton.

Montreal won all four meetings against Hamilton this season, including last week’s regular season finale 22-20.

The Calgary Stampeders and B.C. Lions meet in the Western Division semifinal later on Saturday.
