Polytechnique Montréal celebrates 150th anniversary

On Monday Polytechnique Montréal celebrated its 150th anniversary with a day filled with events.

The Polytechnique community and government representatives, came together, to combine the past, present, and future of the university through theatrical and musical performances,  animations, and special panels of graduates, students, and professors.

Polytechnique Montréal is the first French-language engineering university in North America.

At its first session in 1874, there were seven students. 150 years later, Polytechnique has 60,000 graduates who have been involved in major projects in Quebec and around the world.

In 2020, Polytechnique met Engineers Canada’s target of 30 per cent women engineers by 2030, 10 years ahead of schedule, 30.2 per cent of graduates at the bachelor’s level were women – for the first time in the university’s history.
