The Montreal Alouettes were at city hall on Thursday morning, signing the ‘Golden Book’ alongside Mayor Valérie Plante.

“To see you all together working as a team is so strong, we are proud of you, we are behind you, Montreal is the Alouettes,” mayor Plante told the team.

The Alouettes held their Grey Cup championship parade on Wednesday in downtown Montreal. Thousands came out to cheer on the Alouettes eight league title.

“I was walking around, talking to people, and there were stars in the kids eyes. People were really excited. I felt very privileged to feel the pride of those who were there,” Plante added.

The Alouettes rallied to a thrilling 28-24 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.

The head coach also echoed how proud the team is to be representing Montreal.

“The people we were doing it for all along was Montreal, it was Quebec. The Quebecois pride that is felt in this province is like no other. It is different, respected and loved. When you look at these players they’re from all over the world and they feel that Quebecois pride like no other,” coach Jason Maas said.

The General Manager highlighted the players hard work and resilience, as well as the coaches.

“I break it down to t-e-a-m: together, everyone, accomplishes, more, and that happened under the leadership of coach Maas,” Danny Maciocia, the General Manager of the Montreal Alouettes said.
