Road work continues around Montreal, several closures to keep in mind

There are some major road closures happening once again over the weekend. Quebec’s Transport Ministry is asking motorists to visit Quebec 511 and plan your travel before leaving your home.

Among the important closures, the Papineau-Leblanc bridge between Laval and Montreal, the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, the Saint-Pierre interchange and on Highway 15 in the Atwater Avenue area.

The ministry is asking motorists to avoid these areas when possible.

Here is the detailed breakdown of the planned closures in those areas.

PAPINEAU-LEBLANC BRIDGE / HIGHWAY 19

Closed Friday 10 p.m. to Sunday 11 p.m.

Southbound

Between Laval and Montreal (Ahuntsic-Cartierville), complete closure of A-19 southbound, between exit 8 (A-440) and boulevard Henri-Bourassa, including the Papineau-Leblanc bridge.

Detours: via the A-440 service road and continue in the desired direction:

Eastbound: exit 30 (R-125 south) to the Pie-IX bridge

Westbound: exit 22 (A-15 south), toward the Médéric-Martin bridge

Default closures: as of 9:30 p.m.

Entrance ramp from A-440 and service road A-19, upstream from boulevard Saint-Martin

Saint-Martin, de la Concorde and Lévesque entrances

Note: access to boulevard Saint-Martin from A-440 and service road A-19 south will be maintained.

Northbound

Between Montreal (Ahuntsic-Cartierville) and Laval, complete closure of A-19 northbound, between boulevards Henri-Bourassa and de la Concorde, including the Papineau-Leblanc bridge.

Detour: on boulevard Henri-Bourassa, via Pie-IX (eastbound) or Viau (westbound) bridges and boulevard de la Concorde. For trucks, via A-440.

AUTOROUTE 25 AND LOUIS-HIPPOLYTE-LA FONTAINE TUNNEL

Closed Friday 11 p.m. to Saturday 8 a.m.

Closed Saturday 11 p.m. to Sunday 9 a.m.

Southbound

Between Montreal and Longueuil, complete closure of A-25 southbound, between exit 4 (avenue Souligny) and the rue de l’Île-Charron entrance, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel.

Detour: via avenue Souligny, Dickson and Notre-Dame Est, boulevard René-Lévesque and avenue Papineau / pont Jacques-Cartier.

Trucks (over 4.25 m): via rue Hochelaga, boulevard de l’Assomption, rue Sherbrooke, boulevard Pie-IX sud and main detour.

Default closure: Tellier and des Futailles entrances, already closed (long term).

Northbound

Between Longueuil and Montreal, complete closure of A-25 northbound, between exit 90 (R-132, La Prairie, Varennes) on A-20 west and the entrance from Notre-Dame east.

Detour: via R-132 west, exit 82 for Jacques-Cartier bridge, exit for De Lorimier avenue south, Notre-Dame Est, Curatteau and De Boucherville streets. For trucks, on Notre-Dame St. East, via Pie-IX Blvd. and Sherbrooke St.

Default closures: 30 minutes before each complete closure.

Ramps leading from R-132 east and west (exits 89-N) to A-25 north. Eastbound detour via exit 18 (boulevard De Montarville) and R-132 west / main detour

Entrance to rue de l’Île-Charron. Detour via A-25 south and R-132 west.

SAINT-PIERRE INTERCHANGE

Closed Friday 11:59 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

Closure of ramp leading from R-138 east (from Honoré-Mercier bridge) to A-20 east (towards downtown).

Detour: via ramp for A-20 west, junction for 1re Avenue, U-turn at traffic lights and boulevard Montréal-Toronto.

Risk of congestion along Mercier Bridge and Saint-Pierre interchange. Plan ahead.

From Monday, November 27 at 5 a.m. to Friday, December 1 at 11:59 p.m., at all times, partial closure of 1 of 2 lanes on the ramp leading from R-138 east to A-20 east.

Closed Friday 10:30 p.m. to Saturday 7 a.m.

Complete closure of R-138 eastbound, between rue Clément and the interchange.

Detour: via avenue Lafleur / rue Elmslie and avenue Dollard. To A-20 west, continue on avenue Saint-Pierre / rue Richmond and 1re Avenue entrance.

Default closures :

At 10 p.m., the Clément Street entrance.

Ramps leading to A-20 east (downtown) and west (airport).

HIGHWAY 15

Closed Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 6:30 a.m.

In Montreal (Sud-Ouest), on A-15 south, partial daytime (1 lane out of 4) and night-time (2 lanes out of 4) closures on A-15 south, between avenue Atwater and exit 60 (boulevard Gaétan-Laberge, rue Wellington, Montreal / downtown).

Default closures: as of Friday 8 p.m.

Entrance from Atwater avenue. Detour: via boulevard LaSalle, rue Wellington, rue Gilberte-Dubé and boulevard Gaétan-Laberge.

Exit 60 (Gaétan-Laberge Blvd., Wellington St., Montreal / downtown). Detour: via exit 57-N (chemin de la Pointe-Nord). For trucks, continue on the Samuel-De Champlain bridge and make a U-turn at exit 6 (R-132) in Brossard.

Note: congestion expected in the area. Plan ahead.

ÎLE-AUX-TOURTES BRIDGE / HIGHWAY 40

Closed for an indefinite period

On the bridge between Vaudreuil-Dorion and Senneville (Montreal Island), partial closure of 1 out of 5 lanes (maintaining 2 lanes available in each direction).
