Migrant woman dies crossing Canada-U.S. border south of Montreal: police

A woman believed to be illegally crossing the border from Canada to the United States was found dead last week, according to police in New York State.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., says the body of Ana Karen Vasquez-Flores was found Dec. 14 in the Chazy River in Champlain.

That’s near the Blackpool border crossing south of Montreal.

Various media reports have indicated the woman was a 33-year-old from Mexico who appeared to be pregnant.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Clinton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating her death.
