Scaled-back recovery mission continues for 4-year-old who fell in Quebec river

Quebec provincial police are continuing the recovery mission for a four-year-old girl who fell into the Mistassibi River north of Quebec City.

Two officers were on the ground Thursday at strategic observation points, an SQ spokesperson said. But the operation was scaled back, as boat, helicopter and drone patrols were stopped.

The child has been missing since Friday when she fell into the river in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Que., while sledding with her mother near the riverbank. The girl slopped through a guardrail into the river.

The search operation shifted to a recovery mission Tuesday.

Provincial police published photos Monday of the clothes the girl was wearing – a rainbow-patterned coat and violet snow pants.

They are asking members of the public to report any sightings along the river.
