Another winter storm headed to Quebec, third in less than a week

By News Staff

Another snowstorm is expected to hit Quebec – overnight Friday into Saturday. This is Montreal’s third storm in less than a week.

Environment Canada warns that this storm could be very similar to the one that hit on Tuesday afternoon. It will bring heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow to most of the province.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement on Thursday saying, “snow is expected to begin overnight Friday night over Western and Southern Quebec, and reach Eastern Quebec during the day on Saturday. A changeover to rain is possible over southern areas, with a possibility of freezing rain during the transition from snow to rain.”

Environment Canada adds that, “there is still some uncertainty regarding the expected precipitation amounts.”

They do warn of possible hazardous driving conditions and they say to consider modifying any non-essential travel plans.

Forecast ahead

For Montreal on Thursday, a 60 percent chance of flurries this afternoon. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50. Temperature steady near minus 4. Wind chill near minus 13. Cloudy with 40 percent chance of flurries this evening then partly cloudy. Wind chill near minus 12.

On Friday, clearing in the morning and wind chill near minus 13. Snow in the forecast for Friday night.

Saturday we’ll see snow or rain and a high of plus 2 degrees.

More snow over the evening hours and into Sunday as well. Temperatures dropping to minus 5.

Sunshine expected to return come Monday, but more flurries possible that night and on Tuesday.
