Amanda Pelkey’s first of the season won it for the visitors, mere minutes after Marie-Philip Poulin’s goal – what would have been a storybook ending for Montreal – was disallowed for goaltender interference.

The four goals in regulation time came during a back-and-forth second period.

Erin Ambrose, with the team’s first-ever goal at home, and Laura Stacey scored 29 seconds apart to give Montreal a 2-0 lead early in the middle frame.

Boston responded with two quick goals of their own from Taylor Girard and Hannah Brandt.
