Husband of Montreal woman charged with 2nd-degree murder in her death, remains detained

The husband of a 32-year-old woman that was murdered on Friday in Pointe-aux-Trembles – will remain detained until his next court hearing in March.

Mustapha Khalil Mechken, 42, was charged on Jan. 26 with the second-degree of his wife Narjess Ben Yedder.

She was reportedly stabbed several times and the suspect allegedly made the call to 911 himself about the crime.

Emergency services arrived just after 8 a.m. at the apartment. They performed CPR, but the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

The man was apprehended without offering any resistance.

Mechken made a brief appearance Monday morning at the Montreal courthouse via videoconference.

He is due back in court March 19.
