STM ‘lovingly’ renames several Montreal metro stations for Valentine’s Day

By News Staff

What do you think of ‘Chéri-UQAM’ or ‘Namour’ instead of Namur? Montreal’s public transit agency (STM) having some fun for Valentine’s Day – posting photos with new loving names for the city’s metro stations.

Berri-UQAM temporarily named ‘Chéri-UQAM,’ Acadie to ‘Acadit-Oui,’ and Villa-Maria now ‘Villa-Mariage.’

The STM posted on Instagram to ask the public which station they thought was the most romantic.

The post has already garnered thousands of likes and over 100 comments, including from Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante replying, “J’adore,” and Quartier Latin saying “On peut rebaptiser Berri-UQAM en Chéri-UQAM à l’année longue?”

The STM said these changes were made for social media purposes and the real names have not been altered.
