Teen dies after dog sled accident in Saint-Michel-des-Saints

A 13-year-old French tourist has died following a dog sled accident on Monday in Saint-Michel-des-Saints, in the Lanaudière region.

Authorities arrived on des Aulnaies Street shortly before noon to rescue the boy who had been injured following an impact with a tree.

According to Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the investigation suggests that the teen was on the dog sled when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

The boy, a French tourist who had come to Quebec with his family on vacation, was transferred to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation is under way to establish the causes and circumstances of this incident.
