Timothée Chalamet sick, not coming to Montreal for Dune premiere after all

By News Staff

“Dune” and Timothée Chalamet fans in Montreal are likely feeling a little let down Wednesday, after finding out the star of the movie is not coming to town.

Chalamet was supposed to attend the Canadian premiere of “Dune: Part Two” in Montreal Wednesday alongside Quebec director Denis Villeneuve.

While Villeneuve is still taking part, Chalamet is out sick and not making the trip, Warner Bros. said in a media release.

“I look forward to seeing you on February 28,” Chalamet had told fans, in French, in a video leading up to the event.

The event at Scotiabank Cinema downtown is still going ahead without the lead actor. The Montreal screening will be preceded by a red carpet and a special event for fans.

“Dune: Part Two” picks up where the first installment, released in 2021, left off. Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts co-wrote the screenplay based on Frank Herbert’s legendary novel.

The movie opens March 1.
