Apartment fire in Verdun leaves three people hospitalized

By News Staff

Three people are in hospital after an apartment fire broke in Verdun on Sunday afternoon.

The Montreal fire department (SIM) said the blaze started just after 4 p.m. on the ninth floor of an apartment building on LaSalle Blvd., near Woodland Park.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, but 15 units were damaged by smoke or water – and those tenants are being helped by the Red Cross.

A woman and two men were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but their lives are not in danger.

The building was run by the City of Montreal’s municipal housing office.
