City of Montreal wants to expand public transit, including tramway

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante wants a to expand public transit and create a major rail network – including a tramway by 2050, and more train and metro lines.

The Plante administration wants to offer enhances services that rely on metro extensions – the Blue line starting west going towards Lachine, the Orange line towards Gouin Blvd., and the Green line will be going east and north, which will eventually connect to the Blue line.

La Presse reports that additionally, the ‘pink line’ was added to future plans of the rail expansion.

The development would take place in two phases.

According to the City of Montreal’s website, they’ll present their 2050 Urban Planning and Mobility Plan by the end of the year.

La Presse had already reported that the Plante administration wanted to install a tramway on Jean-Talon west.
