Montreal’s Olympic Park sports complex closed for another week following fire

The athletic sports complex in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium will remain closed for another week after a fire broke out there on March 21.

The facilities are expected to be closed until Monday, but access will remain closed until at least April 2, according to Olympic Park officials.

The sports centre and National Sports Institute (INS) suffered significant damages.

All activities, including the fitness room and pool, as well as supervised classes have been suspended April 2, except for running classes, which are still ongoing.

However, some athletes who train at the centre are concerned about their training schedule ahead of the summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Several thousand people use the Olympic Park facilities daily including around 350 Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
