A 75-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a truck in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal on Wednesday.

The collision occurred around 5 p.m., when the truck travelling southbound on Langelier Blvd. made a left turn, heading east, onto Sherbrooke Street.

When Montreal police (SPVM) arrived on the scene, the man was unconscious on the ground and was taken to hospital.

“It was at this point that there was an impact with the pedestrian who was crossing Sherbrooke Street to the north,” explained SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was treated for nervous shock but was not taken to hospital.

A team from the Collision Investigation Section will visit the scene to investigate the incident.
