Gas prices in Montreal surge 14 cents

By News Staff

Drivers in Montreal began spotting a double-digit spike at the gas pumps Wednesday, a few hours earlier than expected.

Gas prices were up 14 cents at some stations in Montreal, like the one at Atwater and Saint-Jacques.

The price at the pump is set to surge to 188.9 cents/litre across Montreal – up from Wednesday morning’s 174.9 cents/litre.

Petroleum analyst Dan McTeague, at Gas Wizard, says the 14-cent jump is expected across Quebec and Ontario.

It’s believed to be linked to price increases for wholesale gas.

The last time gas prices were this high was in August 2022, according to McTeague.
