Several Montreal and Laval road closures this weekend

Major construction projects will cause several road closures for Montreal and Laval drivers this weekend.

Papineau-Leblanc Bridge and portion of Highway 19

The Papineau-Leblanc Bridge and a portion of Highway 19 will be completely closed to traffic from April 26 to 29. The closure is required to replace the stays on the structure.

Highway 19 (Papineau) will be completely closed to traffic starting Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday 4:30 a.m.

There will be a complete closure southbound between Highway 440 (Jean-Noël-Lavoie) and Henri-Bourrassa Blvd., but access to Saint-Martin Blvd. will be possible.

There will be a closure heading northbound between Henri-Bourassa and de la Concorde Blvd.

To travel from Montreal to Laval, drivers are urged to take the Pie-IX Bridge and the Médéric-Martin Bridge.

Highway 13 (Chomedey)

Starting April 28, Highway 13 will see some partial night closures and an occasional weekend blitz, between the Louis-Bisson Bridge and the Notre-Dame Blvd. in Laval. The asphalting work began at the end of 2022 and is set to resume until the end of June.

According to the Transport Ministry, “the project’s aim is to improve the safety and driving comfort on the road.”

There will be a partial closure (one to three lanes) of Highway 13 going southbound, between Samson Blvd. and the Louis-Bisson Bridge from April 28 to June 29, Sundays to Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

On Fridays, it will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Saturdays from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m.

Starting April 28 at 9 p.m., until May 17, there will be a complete closure of the entrance ramp to the Highway 13 roadside checkpoint entrance ramp.

Also, Highway 13 heading northbound, between Louis-Bisson Bridge and Notre-Dame Blvd will have a partial closure (one to three lanes) starting May 14 until June 20, on Sundays to Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Fridays from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

On Saturdays, it will be closed from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.

From May 14 until June 5, the right lane on the exit ramp 12 Samson/Notre-Dame Blvd./ St-Martin from Highway 13 heading north will be closed.

Partial day and night closures are planned for three weekends. The dates and details of these closures will be communicated at a later date.

ROUTE 136

From Friday 10 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m., there will be a complete closure of exit 6 (Saint-Laurent Blvd.) on the R-136 east (Ville-Marie highway)

A detour route will be available via exit 7 ( Papineau Avenue, Jacques-Cartier bridge ), Panet Street and Viger Avenue.

A-10 / R-132 interchange / Samuel-De Champlain bridge

In Brossard , there will be a partial closure with one lane available on the ramp leading from the R-132 east / Marie-Victorin Blvd. to the A-10 east (towards Sherbrooke ), from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

Atwater Avenue

In Montreal, Atwater Avenue northbound, between Sainte-Catherine Ouest Street and De Maisonneuve Ouest Blvd. will be closed starting Friday at 7 p.m. until Monday 7 a.m.

Côte-de-Liesse Road

From April 28 until July 2025, there will be a partial closure on de la Côte-de-Liesse Street eastbound, between Sunset Street and Athlone Street in the Mont-Royal area.

Highway 20

On April 8, the ramp repair work on the Sources interchange, on Autoroute 20 (du Souvenir) in Pointe-Claire resumed and will continue until the end of the year.

Autoroute 520 and Hickmore Street

Reconstruction work on the A-520 ( Côte-de-Liesse ) overpasses, above Hickmore Street, restarted on March 25 and will continue until the end of 2024. 

The work could be postponed, extended, or cancelled due to weather conditions or operational constraints.

Detour routes will be marked with temporary signage and congestion is to be expected. Quebec’s Transport Ministry recommends that road users travelling in the area allow extra time to get to their destination.
