17-year-old stabbed in Montreal North outside a school

Montreal police (SPVM) say a 17-year-old was stabbed outside a high school on Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the victim sustained wounds to the upper body.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. outside École secondaire Calixa-Lavallée in Montreal North.

SPVM say a fight escalated between a group of young people about a possible bicycle theft.

The victim was transported to hospital, and as of Tuesday morning, his life is no longer considered in danger.

A long blade may have been used and reportedly the teen was stabbed in the back.

There could be more than one suspect and they could also be minors – but the main suspect may only be 12 years old, authorities explain.

No arrests have been made as of yet.
