The Spice Island Cultural Festival will return for its seventh edition in Montreal, as Grenada marks 50 years of independence in 2024.

The festival will take place at Parc Vinet in Little Burgundy, starting July 11 to July 14.

The Spice Island Cultural Day Association of Quebec (SICDAQ) holds this annual celebration to showcase the rich and diverse heritage, music, food, and culture of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

The SICDAQ held a press conference on Wednesday and announced that Grenada Prime Minister Dickon Amiss Thomas Mitchell will attend this year’s festival.

“The presence of Prime Minister Mitchell adds an extra layer of significance to our event, highlighting the strong bonds of friendship and cultural exchange between Grenada and Quebec,” said SICDAQ President Byron Cameron.

According to a press release, during his visit, Prime Minister Mitchell is expected to participate in various festival activities including an interactive VIP cocktail reception.

The Spice Island Cultural Festival remains the only official celebration for Grenadian Quebecers that promotes cultural heritage within the diaspora community.

“As Grenadian Quebecois gather for our largest celebration yet to mark 50 years of independence, we are thrilled to have the PM join us to witness the strength and dedication of our small diaspora community,” said Cameron.
