Victoria Bridge: one lane re-opens

By News Staff

The Victoria Bridge re-opened one lane for traffic Wednesday morning after emergency repair work forced a complete closure on Tuesday.

According to CN Rail, it had to close all the lanes so that the City of Montreal could work on its water system at the corner of the bridge and des Irlandais Street to fix a road surface that caved in over the weekend.

“At no time was the integrity of the bridge or the safety to its users impacted,” CN said in a statement.

The lane remained open coming into the city until 3 p.m. and then it was switched – so traffic could head southbound out of Montreal.

The Victoria Bridge links Saint-Lambert and Montreal’s South-West area.
