Lacordaire Blvd. partially reopens, six days after flooding

By News Staff

As of Thursday afternoon, Lacordaire Blvd. partially reopened to traffic between Industriel and des Grandes-Prairies – with one southbound lane and one northbound lane on the east side of the boulevard.

Drivers had been diverted from the area since the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby flooded the road last week.

Crews have been onsite working to remove the water from the valve chamber.

“As for the pumps, all three appear to be damaged. Our crews and private companies specializing in this field are on site to continue the work,” wrote Montreal North Mayor Christine Black on Facebook.

Water from the main reservoir continues to be siphoned off by three mobile 4-inch pumps, which are fed by a large 12-inch pump that has been rented.

The mayor adding that, “the water level is stable and the equipment continues to pump, keeping the water level stable.”

“The next updates will come when there’s more news. In the meantime, a slowdown is to be expected, as there is only one lane per direction. As a reminder, night closures are scheduled by Hydro-Québec.”
