Montreal police arrest 28-year-old in connection to murder of Lachine woman

Montreal police say a 28-year-old man is in custody in connection to the death of a 64-year-old woman in Lachine last month.

On July 29, SPVM officers were called to a home on 32nd Avenue, near Victoria Street.

Once on the scene, police found the 64-year-old woman unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

While initially investigating the woman’s death as suspicious, police were able to later confirm that it was a murder.

As a result of their investigation, police were able to identify a man believed to be a suspect and arrested him at his home in LaSalle.

The 28-year-old will appear in court Thursday and is facing charges of first-degree murder.

This was the 21st homicide of 2024 on the Island of Montreal.
