SPVM say the fight on 10th Avenue, near rue Louvain, was reported to 911 at around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

At the scene, officers found an unconscious man on the ground. He died onsite.

Initial information gathered by police revealed that there had been a conflict between the victim and the suspect.

“The major crime unit took charge of the event. And I can tell you that during the night, we arrested an around 50-year-old man. He was transported to a detention center to meet investigators. And some accusations are gonna follow during the day,” said Montreal police (SPVM) spokesperson, Antony Dorelas.
