Two dead after fatal head-on collision on Highway 30

A fatal head-on collision occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday morning in Candiac, in the Montérégie region.

The driver of one vehicle, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, a man in his twenties, was transported to the hospital in critical condition but he later succumbed to his injuries.

The head-on collision occurred at kilometre 56 on the west side of Highway 30.

“For the moment, the circumstances are still being investigated. According to initial information, one person was taken to hospital in critical condition. The death of the driver of the other vehicle involved, a woman in her forties, was pronounced at the scene,” said Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

An SQ investigator specializing in collisions is on site to clarify the causes and circumstances of the accident, which caused the closure of Highway 30 westbound up to approximately kilometre 58.
