SAAQ halts operations at Place Vertu service centre pending investigation

The Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) has temporarily halted operations at its Place Vertu service centre in Montreal as an internal investigation moves forward.

The provincial auto insurer confirmed Thursday that services at the location have been put on pause after customer complaints prompted an administrative review. The agency’s investigations department is now examining the allegations to determine their validity.

Officials declined to elaborate on the nature of the complaints, saying they would not comment further while the investigation is ongoing in order to protect its integrity.

The service interruption will remain in effect until the review is complete.

Customers with existing appointments at the Place Vertu location will be contacted and offered alternative dates at nearby service centres, including those in Kirkland and on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. The SAAQ noted that some transactions can also be completed online.

The agency acknowledged the inconvenience the pause in service may cause and thanked customers for their understanding. No timeline has been provided for when regular operations at the site may resume.
