Person in crisis seriously injured during SPVM operation, police watchdog says

Quebec’s police watchdog is investigating after a person was seriously injured during a police operation involving SPVM officers on Wednesday morning.

The Bureau des Enquêtes Indépendantes (BEI) says it is probing after Montreal police officers were called around 2:15 a.m. about a loved one in crisis inside a home.

During the intervention, the BEI says the person in crisis was injured. They were taken to hospital and remain in critical condition.

The BEI says five investigators are looking into what took place. They will be assisted by Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers, who have been tasked with investigating what happened before police arrived.
