The indefinite strike of Quebec government engineers will begin Thursday at 5 p.m., with the parties having failed to reach an agreement on the renewal of the collective agreement.
There are 2,000 engineers, members of the Professional Association of Government Engineers of Quebec (APIGQ), who work in the Ministry of Transport, Environment, Cybersecurity, Municipal Affairs, Agriculture, Energy and Natural Resources.
Some 490 of them could potentially be assigned to essential services, such as infrastructure interventions.
The dispute concerns salaries, the use of sub-contracting to the private sector, the requested flexibility and the professional autonomy of engineers.
