Bill for zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles in Quebec

By Patrice Bergeron, The Canadian Press

To reduce Quebec’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the Legault government is tackling heavy-duty trucks.

On Wednesday, Environment Minister Benoit Charette tabled a bill to require manufacturers to sell zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles, similar to what already exists for automobile manufacturers.

Buses and minibuses are not covered by this bill.

The transportation sector is the most polluting in Quebec, according to the most recent GHG inventory published in 2021.
