Montreal North borough computer system hacked

By News Staff

The Montreal North borough posted to social media on Thursday that there had been “an intrusion into its computer system” and the Yves-Ryan library access point and the permit counter were offline. Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating.

The system has been affected since Monday.

The borough writes that they, “reacted immediately to contain the undesirable effects of this intrusion and ensure continuity of services to the population.”

“A specialized firm has been hired to conduct an investigation to identify the sources of the intrusion. With the support of this firm and the city, the specialized resources of the borough are mobilized with a view to returning all operations to normal as soon as possible.”

The borough added that it will not make any further statements before receiving results from the investigation.

For now the borough says they won’t make any further statement on the subject until it receives the results of the ongoing investigation.
