Building targeted by suspected arson attack in Parc-Extension

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a fire broke out in a commercial building in the borough of Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension overnight.

Emergency services received a call around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday about flames near the corner of du Parc Ave. and Beaumont Ave.

According to police, a witness managed to get the fire under control before firefighters arrived at the scene.

There were no reported injuries and damage to the building was considered minor.

Officers say an incendiary object was found, and they suspect the fire was caused by arson.

The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
