Driver crashes into bus shelter, 4 injured in Longueuil

An elderly driver crashed into a bus shelter filled with four people on Friday in Longueuil.

Three of the victims and the female driver, were injured and transported to hospital. None of their injuries are considered to be life-threatening.

The driver, in her 70s, was reportedly about to leave a restaurant parking lot when she put the car in reverse and pressed on the accelerator by mistake.

Emergency services were called at around 12:35 p.m. about the incident on Victoria Ave., near St-Louis Street.

The car smashed into the bus shelter – damaging it and shattering the glass.

An 18-year-old woman was trapped under the car and was transported to hospital with serious injuries – but was later said to have stabilized.

A 19-year-old woman had her leg stuck.

Some bystanders came to help the victims and lift the vehicle before first responders arrived.

An investigation is ongoing.
