Power back at all St-Michel homes affected by Hydro-Québec outage

Power has been restored to all homes in Saint-Michel after 1,200 Hydro-Québec customers were left in the dark – some for three days – due to a problematic underground power line.
Hydro-Québec said all homes had electricity back by around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Twelve power generators have been installed and will remain in place “until we are sure that the grid is working properly,” Hydro spokesperson Louis-Olivier Batty told CityNews Wednesday morning.
Batty adds the Crown corporation will be running tests Wednesday on the power line that caused the issues.
Hydro-Québec says the situation began when a “defect” appeared on the underground line Saturday around 2:45 a.m. It affected households in a grid ranging from 53rd Street to 41st Street, and between Pie-IX Boulevard and 24th Avenue.
Service was temporarily restored on the line Monday at 5:30 p.m., but a new fault occurred an hour later.
Power was gradually restored to homes on Monday and Tuesday as more generators were installed.
