Patrick Liard appointed interim Urgences-santé CEO

By The Canadian Press

Urgences-santé has confirmed that Patrick Liard will replace François Charpentier as the head of the public paramedic organization.

Liard had been serving as the assistant director of operations at Urgences-santé.

He will take up his new post on Friday.

“We learned this afternoon (Wednesday) that Charpentier (…) is no longer the president and CEO of Urgences-santé,” noted Urgences-santé communications director Stéphane Smith in an interview with The Canadian Press

Smith said that Liard will serve as interim CEO while the organization starts the process to find a new president and CEO – as well as a new chair of the board of directors —both positions that Charpentier previously held.

However, he could not comment on the reasons that motivated Quebec to terminate Charpentier’s employment contract, which was set to end in April 2027.

“I just got the information, and I notified the employees at Urgences-santé, but I don’t have any other details,” added Smith. “Charpentier wrote a note to the employees and we just forwarded it.”

In his message to Urgences-santé employees, Charpentier thanked them and announced that Liard would be taking over, without providing details about his departure. He had been in office since April 2022.

Urgences-santé covers the territories of Montreal and Laval.
