Two vehicles were set on fire in Montreal overnight.
Montreal police (SPVM) received a call to 911 around 10 p.m. on Sunday night about a parked car on fire in the outdoor parking lot of the Carrefour Langelier shopping centre in the borough of Saint-Leonard.
“The firefighters brought the fire under control and the vehicle, which was heavily damaged, is a total loss,” said SPVM spokesperson Mariane Allaire Morin. “On site, certain elements suggest that it could be arson.”
Then later, around 12:30 a.m., police received another call about a parked vehicle on fire in the Plaza Côte-des-Neiges parking lot, in the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.

“The firefighters brought the fire under control in the first vehicle, which was a total loss, but the flames also damaged a second vehicle that was nearby,” said Morin. “Since it is currently impossible to determine the cause of this vehicle fire, the investigation is being transferred to the SPVM’s arson squad,” she said.
All vehicles will be towed for examination.
There were no reported injuries, and no arrests have been made.
