19-year-old man dies following collision in Saint-Calixte

A 19-year-old man died following a collision between two vehicles late Friday morning on Route 335 in Saint-Calixte, Lanaudière.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reports that the collision occurred around 11 a.m. not far from Lake Brien.

According to police, the two vehicles, a car and a van, collided for as-yet-undetermined reasons, and two people were injured.

Both were taken to hospital. The 19-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries. The other driver, a man in his 50s, suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The SQ would like to point out that Route 335 was closed in the vicinity of the accident so that police could analyze the scene and understand the causes and circumstances of the tragedy. Traffic was restored at 5 p.m.
