First babies of the year in Quebec born in Montreal and Quebec at midnight on New Year’s

Two babies were born at midnight sharp in Quebec City and Montreal, becoming the first babies of 2025 in the province.

In Quebec City, at exactly midnight on Wednesday, a baby boy named Giovani-Munga weighing 4,170 grams was born, announced the CHU de Québec-Université Laval.

“The CHU would like to warmly congratulate the new parents and send them its best wishes for happiness,” the press release reads. 

The little boy’s parents have decided not to give interviews to the media to preserve their privacy. 

In Montreal, the CIUSS de l’Ouest de l’Île said that a boy named Aryan was also born at midnight at St. Mary’s Hospital.

“Congratulations to the happy parents on the arrival of Aryan born at 00:00 AM,” they wrote in a Facebook post. “The baby boy was born at St. Mary Hospital Centre and becomes the CIUSSS’ first baby of the year!”

“Congratulations to the new parents and welcome Aryan!”
