Montreal beauty salon target of alleged arson for third time: police

A business in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough was the target of an alleged arson attack early Tuesday morning – for the third time in recent months, according to Montreal Police (SPVM).

The SPVM received a call at 3:15 a.m. about a fire at a beauty salon on Payette Street, near des Seigneurs Street.

“When the fire department arrived on site they were able to control the fire rapidly,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. “From there, we’re talking about considerable damage that was caused to that building.”

Authorities believe the incident was arson after a witness said that they saw one suspect fleeing the scene when the fire started.

The case has since been transferred to the Montreal Police arson squad.
