CN train collides with fuel truck, gas and ethanol spilled in Montreal’s St-Laurent

A train collided with a fuel truck in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough on Friday morning, spilling gasoline and ethanol.

Canadian National (CN) says crews are on the ground responding to the incident that happened after 10 a.m. at a level crossing in the Taschereau yard in Saint-Laurent.

CN says there are no reported injuries, but “a quantity of gasoline and ethanol that was being transported by the heavy truck was spilled following the incident.”

In a statement they say, “Our crews quickly notified local emergency services and all measures are being put in place to minimize environmental impacts.”

Montreal’s fire department deployed a hazardous materials truck to the scene, while police and paramedics also were onsite.

CN issued an apology “for the inconvenience this situation may have caused to motorists in the area.”
