Up to 15 cm of snow could fall in Montreal Thursday, more in the coming days

Montreal is expected to receive a big dumping of snow on Thursday.

A low pressure system will bring about five to 10 centimetres of snow throughout the day Thursday. Then at night, up to four centimetres are expected.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a weather advisory, warning of poor visibility and difficult road conditions.

They say snow is expected to be heavy over the lunch hour and into the early afternoon and advise motorists to plan accordingly.

Adding to that, temperatures were at -23 with the wind chill on Thursday morning, even though the high was at -2.

The mercury will be at -14 with the wind chill Friday and more snow in the forecast — local blowing snow, which could reduce visibility.

Montreal expected to get a break from the snow on Saturday in the day — sunny and -4. At night, periods of snow will begin, which will continue into Sunday.

The City will launch its third snow-clearing operation of the season Friday night at 7 p.m. – in all boroughs.

The first priority will be to clear sidewalks and add salt to the city’s network.
