Montreal’s third snow removal operation begins Friday night

Montrealers will see a cold and snowy weekend as the city undertakes it’s third snow removal operation of the season – after at least 10 centimeters fell on the region Thursday.

It will feel like -14°C with the wind chill today and -18°C overnight.

Saturday a mix of sun and clouds before the snow returns at night – and sticks around into Sunday.

In preparation for the snow, the City of Montreal will begin snow loading operations in all boroughs at 7 p.m. tonight. The operation will focus on clearing up the city’s 10,000 kilometers of municipal roads.

Over 3,000 workers and 2,500 snow removal vehicles will be deployed – and residents can expect temporary parking disruptions.

Be sure to look out for no parking signs to help speed up the snow removal process. Vehicles should park 30 centimeters from the curb, and fold in their side mirrors.

The city is providing 8,060 overnight parking spots between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize inconveniences.
