Montreal region under a winter storm watch

Grey skies and some flurries starting off Tuesday, with Environment Canada issuing a winter storm watch the Montreal region.

Heavy snow arriving overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with 20 to 35 centimetres in the forecast due to a low pressure system from Texas.

The weather agency warns of rapidly accumulating snow making travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

They say there may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas, as well due to local blowing snow.

Before that, increasing cloudiness in Montreal with the temperatures hovering around -4 C on Tuesday, with 2 centimetres of snow accumulation.

For Wednesday, sunnier weather will become more widespread across Quebec, but the mercury will drop. A high of -11, with the wind chill making it feel like -27 in the morning and -19 in the afternoon.

Thursday – a high of -3 in the forecast.

The sun returning to Montreal for Friday on Valentine’s Day, with a high of -7 and a low at night of -14 .

Intermittent snow expected over the weekend, with a high of -9 on Saturday, and a high of -6 on Sunday.
