Montreal to get another snowstorm this weekend

Montrealers will get a brief break from the snow Friday, with sunny skies and relatively mild winds providing a short respite before another significant storm makes its way to the city this weekend. Gusty winds will still be present and temperatures will remain frigid.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), a low-pressure system moving toward Quebec will intensify throughout the weekend, bringing heavy snow to Montreal and other areas of southern Quebec starting Sunday morning. The snow is expected to continue through Monday, with total accumulations ranging from 15 to 30 centimetres.

“A new low-pressure system will move towards Quebec this weekend and intensify. Snow, sometimes heavy, will begin Sunday morning in southern Quebec, then affect other regions starting late Sunday,” Environment Canada warned in its special weather bulletin.

In the meantime, Montreal will enjoy sunny weather on Friday, but wind gusts of up to 40 km/h will make it feel much colder than the high of -6°C. Wind chill values will drop to -19°C in the morning and -13°C by the afternoon.

As the weekend progresses, clouds will increase on Saturday with temperatures dipping to -9°C. By Sunday, snow will begin to fall, continuing through the night with winds making it feel even colder. Montrealers can expect another round of snow and gusty winds, making for treacherous driving conditions and reduced visibility through Monday.
