Canada’s most-wanted suspect Dave Turmel arrested in Italy: reports

The alleged leader of a notorious street gang and Canada’s most-wanted fugitive has been arrested in Italy, according to multiple media reports.
Quebec’s Dave Turmel, 28, the alleged leader of the Blood Family Mafia who was wanted on gun violence and drug trafficking charges, is reportedly in police custody.
Turmel had been sought by Quebec City police since July 2023 as part of an operation launched in February 2019 to counter an increase in violence linked to drug trafficking.
“Dave Turmel and BFM are ready to do anything to take control of drug trafficking, not only in Quebec, but throughout the eastern part of the province,” Quebec city police director Denis Turcotte said in December, when Turmel was named Canada’s most-wanted suspect.
Investigators were fairly certain he had fled Canada.
